You’ll Find Specialty Care for Special Needs

One of the unique components of the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Center is its management of arthritic conditions of the foot and ankle. The focus is on pain relief and maintaining function. Many times this can be achieved with non-surgical methods. However, when surgery is needed, the Center offers the most sophisticated techniques available anywhere in the country. Dr. Graham has pioneered total ankle replacements in our region, performing three different types of ankle replacement surgery each designed for a different circumstance or diagnosis. We are the recognized leaders in Hampton Roads for the treatment of all stages of foot and ankle arthritis.

Another unique aspect of the Center is its overlap involvement with the wound care clinic in the area of limb salvage and the treatment of people with diabetes. Working closely with plastic and vascular surgeons, our staff strives to decrease the number of amputations and maintain maximum limb function. This effort includes reconstructive procedures for feet and ankles that have failed previous surgeries, or have infections, nonunions, or severe deformities, in addition to the treatment of Charcot deformities common in people with diabetes.

We also offer expertise in meeting the needs of high performance athletes and professional dancers. The Center manages the full spectrum of injuries to the foot, ankle, and lower leg by designing an individualized care plan so that the athlete or dancer can return to their prior competitive level as quickly as possible.
